Duties of Waiter or Waitress
- Greet guests and show them to their assigned tables.
- Present the menu and provide comprehensive information (e.g., on amounts, ingredients, or potential food allergies) upon request.
- Place linens, glasses, and silverware on the tables.
- Inform clients about the current day’s deals.
- Make meal recommendations upon request.
- When appropriate, upsell more items.
- Utilize order slips, POS ordering software, or memory to accurately receive food and beverage orders.
- Make sure the people consuming the alcohol are old enough by checking their identity.
- Tell the cooks what you ordered, and they will bring the food and drinks to you.
- Check the dishes and kitchenware for appearance and cleanliness, and report any problems.
- Maintain the dining area tidy and arrange the tables.
- Deliver checks and collect cash for invoices.
Qualification/Requirement:
- Verified experience working as a waiter or waitress
- Practical knowledge of ordering information systems (such as Toast POS or Revel POS) and cash registers
- Basic knowledge of math
- Patience and attentiveness to clients
- Outstanding presenting abilities
- Proficient in multitasking and organization, with the capacity to function well in a hectic setting; Adept at communicating effectively and actively listening
- Collaborative spirit Adaptability to work in shifts
- A high school graduation; knowledge of food safety is beneficial
- Experience with general waiter for at least a year
- Detail-oriented
- Able to use hand tools well
- Being able to lift 35 pounds
